This seminar aims to provide a good understanding of the design, manufacture, selection, installation, inspection, testing, operation and maintenance of transmission and distribution power cables.

With a large amount of power distribution being buried in the ground, and with a growing amount of older cables, comes an increasing tendency of failure. With the understanding of the mechanism involving cables, there is possibility to foresee and prevent an incoming rise in costs involving repair and change of cables.

Harry Orton holds a M.Sc. in Applied Science from the University of British Columbia and has over 39 years of experience in the electric power industry.
