Steam net control at Södra Cell Mörrum

At Södra Cell pulp mill in Mörrum, Solvina has developed a control strategy for the energy systems of the mill. At a low level, steam flows and pressures are controlled. At supervisory level, optimization of power turbines, boilers, district heating production and the hot and warm water production, is performed from an economic perspective. What is currently economic efficient depends on machine efficiencies, electricity prices, heating needs and future needs of steam and hot and warm water in the mill.

The work consisted of:

  • Process Calculations for rebuilding of the steam net.
  • Development of a control strategy for controlling the turbines, valves and boilers in order to keep the pressures constant in the steam nets.
  • Development of a simulator for operators training.
  • Supervising control for energy optimization (district heating, power production, steam production)
  •
