Critical Clearing Time – Lab demo

One important aspect of ensuring power system operation and safety is obtaining Critical clearing time, which you will learn more about during one of the lab demonstrations exercises in the Power System Stability course held from 23rd – 27th August 2021.

Below you see a practical demonstration from one of the several exercises on transient stability. When the fault persists for a duration more than the critical clearing time of a generator,
it is no longer able to hold its synchronism with the grid. The video shows graphical visualization of generator load angle in reference to the grid and analogue visualizations of generator voltage and current’s oscillatory response.

Sign-Up for the course to learn more about practical aspects from theories related to Power System Stability.
