Successful grid code compliance studies and testing at the Waste-to-Energy plant K3 in Kemsley, UK, together with CNIM
Solvina has successfully completed a comprehensive project regarding grid code compliance studies and testing at the Waste-to-Energy plant K3 in Kemsley, UK, together with CNIM. CNIM was the appointed EPC contractor for the power plant and assigned Solvina to perform the grid code dynamic studies and grid code compliance testing. The grid code dynamic studies were conducted in Solvina’s own simulation tool Simpow. The simulations included the following studies: Automatic Voltage Regulator, AVR, and Power System Stabilizer, PSS Reactive power capability Fault Ride Through, FRT Voltage disturbance Stability of load rejection to house load Voltage controller verification and validation Frequency controller verification and validation. The grid code compliance tests were conducted together with CNIM and Siemens, and consisted of two testing rounds, before and after synchronization. Good test preparation such as well-defined test program, signal list and conducted simulations ensured that the tests were conducted as planned and complete with great success and approval from the Distribution Network Owner. The work included the following tests: Excitation system open circuit response Open & short circuit saturation curves Excitation system in-load response Over and Under excitation limiters Reactive capability Governor and load controller response performance Solvina wants to thank CNIM for another successfully completed project and the ongoing collaboration!
Ensuring optimal operational performance of large power stations for Zesco in Zambia
Solvina has provided power system services to Zesco, Zambia, to ensure optimal operational performance of large power stations. The services provided have been testing and developing models of power plants and at the same time build capacity among power station and system operations engineers in ZESCO to carry out similar work to ensure a long-lasting improvement of the power system. Read about the Zesco project on our web. ZESCO is a state-owned power company in Zambia. It is Zambia’s largest power company producing about 80% of the electricity consumed in the country, with some large hydro power plants as important producing units.

I kursen kommer vi att djupdyka i de områden som varit mest intressanta och användbara för tidigare kursdeltagare. Fokus kommer att ligga på felsökning samt mätning och optimering av reglerprestanda. Den 4-6 februari genomfördes Solvinas uppskattade kurs Praktisk Reglerteknik för Processindustrin med Krister Forsman. Power System study and Gas & Steam System Review at TATA Steel Kalinganagar in India
This year Solvina has completed a comprehensive Power System study and Gas & Steam System Review at TATA Steel Kalinganagar (TSK) in India, with the aim to improve the plant reliability. We are very grateful for the confidence TSK put in Solvina, and the result that our team achieved. The result was much appreciated, and we thank the skilled TATA Steel team for great cooperation. We like to quote our main contact at site, Mr. Suman Kumar Sharma: ”Most important expectation was a good comprehensive study around TSK Power system including Gas & Steam network along with various criteria for grid islanding. Solvina Team has done good study around the TSK System as defined in the scope & were able to give new insights into our system.
